Two iconic wall units. One legendary designer.
We’re excited to have two exceptional wall-mounted storage systems by the pioneering Danish designer Poul Cadovius available in the shop. Thoughtfully engineered and quietly elegant, these systems are beautiful examples of the modular design concept Cadovius helped define in the 1960s.
Best known for his Royal System shelving, Cadovius revolutionised how we think about storage by taking it off the floor and giving it sculptural clarity on the wall. His designs combine minimalist beauty with functionality - adaptable, lightweight, and deeply architectural.
"Most of us live on the bottom of a cube. If we put the walls even with the floor, we get a lot of space to live on".
The Two Systems We Have Available:
Teak Wall unit on panels designed for Cado
A rare, large teak-panelled wall unit, featuring Cadovius’s signature diagonal dowel mechanism. Each shelf and the drinks cabinet connect seamlessly via precisely angled dowels, creating a clean, almost floating appearance.
Teak Modular ‘Royal’ Cabinet System with Metal Dowels designed for Cado
A second, smaller wall unit consisting of a mirrored drinks cabinet with stunning woven wood exterior plus 2 cabinets one teak and one sliding glass doored. This unit uses metal dowels and hooked brackets; a subtle variation that still speaks to Cadovius’s design language. The dowels slot into pre-drilled holes in the wooden uprights, with each unit or shelf hanging effortlessly. Simple, clever, and visually striking.
Both systems are in beautiful condition and are available to view in store or in the website. Whether you're furnishing a home office, studio, or gallery wall, these pieces bring timeless mid century functionality and form.
