Ernest Gimson, born in Leicester in 1864, trained as an architect but soon embraced cabinetmaking, influenced by the ideals of the Arts and Crafts movement. He worked alongside figures like William Morris, contributing to notable buildings. Ernest Barnsley, born in Birmingham in 1863, also trained as an architect but joined Gimson in a shared passion for craftsmanship. Specialising in joinery, the two formed a partnership in the 1890s, producing furniture, interiors, and public works with a focus on quality materials and traditional techniques. Their work, celebrated for its elegant simplicity, left a lasting mark on design.

Rolf Rastad and Adolf Relling were Norwegian designers known for their significant contribution to mid-century Scandinavian design. The duo collaborated from the 1940s through the 1960s, producing elegant furniture pieces that emphasised clean lines, functionality, and high-quality craftsmanship. One of their most famous works is the "Bambi" lounge chair, a teak and rattan creation that exemplifies the simplicity and warmth of Nordic design.
