'Television chair' by Ib Kofod Larsen (1960s) UK

This beautiful 'Television Chair'  was designed by Ib Kofod-Larsen for G plans 'Danish Range' in the early 1960s and is one of our favourite pieces. The delicate curves of the frame and the simplicity of the teak construction are elevated by the brass and silver fixings, which hold the frame slightly away from the backrest, creating a light, floating effect. 

Fully restored and reupholstered with new sustainable foam and 'Teddy' bouclé fabric by Kirkby.

After studying architecture at the Royal Danish Academy in Copenhagen, Ib Kofod Larsen established his own design studio in 1948. His work was reflective of other designer of the time such as Kaare Klint, Hans J. Wegner, Børge Mogensen, and Finn Juhl, who were all shaping the mid-century Scandinavian aesthetic of the time. 

In the 1950s, his designs gained international recognition, with production spanning Europe, the US, and Japan. He became one of the most commercially successful designers of the era. 

One of his most celebrated pieces, the Knitting Chair, debuted at the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers' Guild Furniture Exhibition as a limited edition. Today, it is reissued by Menu as part of their "Modernism Reimagined" collection.
